Adrian Peterson to start for the Redskins

The Washington Redskins have named RB Adrian Peterson the starter for the opener on Sunday.  Peterson was assigned late after the season ending injury to Derrius Guice. Peterson appeared one one preseason game for Washington.  In the third preseason game, Peterson was impressive, carrying the ball 11 times for 56 yards.  That is an average of 5.6 yards per carry.  Peterson will be backed up by Rob Kelly and Samaje Perine, with Chris Thompson returning…

Redskins start the season in the bottom half of the NFL

Expectedly, the Washington Redskins will start the 2018 NFL season at the bottom half of the NFL, in terms of power rankings.  And why wouldn’t they?  It is a show me league from season to season. In our initial NFL Power Rankings, we have 17 NFL Power Rankings listed.  When averaging them all out, the Redskins have an average rank of 22.59. Now, don’t get mad and frustrated with some of the NFL Power Rankings…

Byron Marshall to the IR for the Redskins

Byron Marshall to the IR for the Redskins

The Washington Redskins placed RB Byron Marshall on the injured reserve. The fact that Marshall made the final 53 tells me that they plan to have him back later in the season. The Redskins did draw some criticism when they released RB Kapri Bibbs.  What this move tells me is that the Redskins coaching staff really likes Marshall better.  That’s evidenced by the not releasing him then placing him on the IR. The Redskins head…

After training camp and two preseason games, we have enough data to make some flat assertions and some semi-educated guesses about who will make Washington’s final 53-man roster for opening day in September. As always, injuries can and alter this list. DEFENSIVE LINE (6) Starters: Jonathan Allen, Da’Ron Payne, Matt Ioannidis Backups: Anthony Lanier, Tim Settle, Ziggy Hood Analysis: It wouldn’t be unusual for the Skins to keep seven defensive linemen and that seventh would…

Projecting the Redskins 53-man Roster: Offense

After training camp and two preseason games, we have enough data to make some flat assertions and some semi-educated guesses about who will make Washington’s final 53-man roster for opening day in September. As always, injuries can and alter this list. QUARTERBACK (2) Starter: Alex Smith Backup: Colt McCoy Analysis: These two are written in stone. The only question is Kevin Hogan, whom the Skins acquired from the Cleveland Browns for a late-round draft pick…

Redskins Stock Report: Preseason Edition

Redskins Stock Report: Preseason Edition

BLUE CHIP STOCK OF THE WEEK The young Redskins defensive line, particularly Alabama teammates Jonathan Allen and Da’Ron Payne, demonstrated why the team invested so heavily in the position the last two years. Payne and Allen repeatedly stuffed the Jets running attack during their two defensive series on the field last Thursday. Payne came up with a fantastic sack on the third play from scrimmage, when he showed his hands early and blew past former…

Redskins Sign Adrian Peterson

Redskins Sign Adrian Peterson

With the running back stable down to three healthy players, the Redskins brought in free agent veteran running backs over the weekend and settled on Peterson after a meeting on Monday. The question will be does the 33-year old Peterson have anything left? He showed flashes in two games last season for Arizona after getting traded from…
