Redskins Select DB in Supplemental Draft

Redskins Select DB in Supplemental Draft

The Washington Redskins have selected CB Adonis Alexander in the 6th round of the 2018 NFL Supplemental Draft. Alexander is known to current Redskins secondary coach Torrian Gray, whose tenure at Virginia Tech overlapped with Alexander’s. Alexander was in the supplemental draft because he was academically ineligible to return to school. A past history of drug abuse probably scared off some teams, but a report earlier this week indicated Alexander is now clean of narcotics….

How the Redskins Draft Will Impact their Roster

How the Redskins Draft Will Impact their Roster

Now that the 2018 NFL Draft is over, it’s time to consider how the players selected will affect the roster that finally takes the field for real games in early September. For a quick refresher on who the Skins added in the Draft, see THIS and THIS. QUARTERBCK (3) Alex Smith, Colt McCoy, Kevin Hogan No quarterbacks taken, which is whatI expected. Redskins Release DL Terrell McClain, A.J. Francis

The Washington Redskins have released DL Terrell McClain, who played only one sub-par year in Washington. I panned the signing at the time, writing that the former Dallas Cowboy was a mediocre player who was given far too much money, four years and $21 million. The writing was on the wall after McClain’s poor 2017 season, when the team renegotiated his contract to remove his guaranteed base salary for 2018. McClain will count $3.75 million against…

Also read Grading the Redskins 2018 Draft Class, Rounds 1-3 Round 4, 109 overall — S Troy Apke, Penn State I had to check myself after I saw this pick. This is what the Skins did last year when they took Montae Nicholson in the fourth round of…

Also read Grading the Redskins 2018 Draft Class, Rounds 4-7 ROUND 1, 13 overall — DL Da’Ron Payne, Alabama I was pounding the table for Da’Ron Payne for months so I can’t claim to be anything but happy about this pick. His pass-rushing skills are mostly based on brute strength and athleticism at this point, but that’s why  DL coach Jim Tomsula is paid the big bucks. However, Payne should be an elite run-stopper from…
