Well, if you were wondering whether the acquisition of QB Kevin Hogan signaled a move away from QB Colt McCoy, think again. McCoy, the backup quarterback for the Redskins since 2014, signed an extension through the 2019 season.
The value of the extension is reportedly $7 million with several void and buyback provisions. McCoy’s 2018 contract is totaled at $3.6 million.
With Alex Smith signed long term, McCoy appears to be set to be a safety insurance for Smith as the backup, at least for the next two seasons.
