The Washington Redskins are coming off a Bye Week at 4-3-1 and face the struggling Minnesota Vikings.

It’s Rob Kelley and crew . . . The Redskins have deactivated Matt Jones. Mack Brown is active. The bulk of carries will likely be with Rob Kelley, who rushed for 87 yard and 5.0 yards per carry against the Bengals. Kelley has a huge opportunity to showcase his abilities and to lock down the starting role. He will be complimented of course with Chris Thompson. The Redskins like to throw the football, but have to have success in the ground game for that to work. Kelley is a hard runner and has had decent success after initial contact, averaging 2.8 yards after initial contact. It will be interesting to see if they utilize Brown today as well.
And Jamison Crowder . . . has an opportunity today as well. He is active on my fantasy team. With DeSean Jackson sidelined with a shoulder injury, the attention down field will likely turn to Crowder. He is the Redskins leading receiver and has been the best offensive threat in the passing game. Of course, i expect to see a lot of targets to TE Jordan Reed as well.
Calling Captain Kirk . . . The Redskins offense is fourth in the NFL, averaging 410.3 yards of offense. 298 yards of that is in the passing game. QB Kirk Cousins will have to make do without Jackson today, which turns the spot light to Crowder. However, don’t underestimate Pierre Garcon today. Redskins need another turnover free game from Cousins today. The Redskins also activated Rashad Ross, who has tremendous speed as well. Ross’ big problem this season is consistency in making the catches. Ross will likely be back on kick return with Chris Thompson. For Cousins, despite a tie against the Bengals, is coming off a career high 458 yards passing.
Getting to Bradford . . . The Redskins defense has had success in getting to the quarterback. They have four consecutive games with three or ore sacks. Getting to Bradford will be a key. Ryan Kerrigan has been heating up and looking like a Pro Bowler. Kerrigan has 7 sacks this season and right behind him is Trent Murphy with 6 sacks. The Redskins will also look for push on Bradford from Chris Baker and Preston Smith.
Watching left tackle . . . Pro Bowler Trent Williams is suspended four games. The loss of Williams is huge. All eyes turn to Ty Nsekhe to hold down the fort at left tackle and protect Kirk Cousins’ blind side. Redskins success today may rely on Nsekhe’s play at left tackle.
