Redskins’ Derrius Guice to have MRI tomorrow

The Washington Redskins got a brief look at second round pick Derrius Guice as the feature running back.  He had a few good owner runs, including a sweet 34 yarder called back by penalty.  But then, the injury scare happened.  Fingers in DC will  crossed for Guice tomorrow, as he is expected to undergo a precautionary MRI on his knee.

Guice exited Thursday’s preseason opener after being tackled on what should have been that 34-yard gain.  He was attended by the trainers and was seen on the sidelines with an ice wrap.  That was temporary.  He was off the ice standing on the sideline and laughing.  He walked off the field at the two minute warning with no noticeable limp.

Guice carries the ball 6 times for 19 yards.

DE Matt Iaonnidis also left the game early with a knee injury.  His looked a bit more serious than Guice.  Iaonnidis recorded one sack in the game. WR Trey Quinn left the game early with an apparent stomach injury. OL Tyler Catalina suffered a rib injury in the second half.
