Over the next few weeks, LETS GO REDSKINS will review Washington’s options in next month’s NFL Draft, position by position.
Linebacker is a tale of two very different situations in Washington. Generally speaking, the Redskins outside linebackers are thought to be a strength of the team, while the inside linebackers have been a weak point.

The Skins made a big splash signing free agent inside linebacker Zach Brown. The 2016 Pro Bowler was second in the NFL in tackles last season. The Redskins also signed veteran Chris Carter, more for depth and special teams. ’16 starting ILB Will Compton remains a (restricted) free agent.

The Redskins are expected to invest in an inside linebacker early in the draft, despite the free agent addition of Brown. We don’t expect to see an outside linebacker before day three. Trent Murphy is suspended for the first four games of 2017, but Washington has Preston Smith and Junior Galette to compete for snaps opposite Ryan Kerrigan. With that in mind, our draft options below are inside backers, with three outside types to consider on day three.
As with any position, whom the Redskins target has much to do with how high an asset they wish to commit during the draft. We have identified several options to consider at different stages/rounds of the draft.
Reuben Foster Alabama
Haason Reddick Temple
Raekwon McMillan Ohio State
Jarrad Davis Florida
Zach Cunningham Vanderbilt
Alex Anzalone Florida
Kendell Beckwith LSU
Ben Boulware Clemson
Jaylen Reeves-Maybin Tennessee (OLB)
Tashawn Bower LSU (OLB)
Joe Mathis Washington (OLB)
